Microsoft has announced a launch of Windows 8.1

Windows 8.1

Its seems like Microsoft is folding its sleeves to fight the battle with it's competitors as Microsoft is going to roll out the first major update for Windows 8 nearly a year of it's launch. This major update of Windows 8 (which is known as Window 8.1) will be available to existing Windows 8 users as a free update that they can download from the Windows Store starting at 4 a.m. PDT on October 17, 2013. It will be available at stores on the next day. Microsoft stated in it's blog on releasing day that, "Windows 8.1 continues the vision we began with Windows 8 and is an example of our commitment to continuous innovation and improvement for our customers,"
The main feature in this update will be it's smart search associated with Bing search engine, it will search files from your computer and associated files on internet also. I think this feature will be very helpful to the students who will be doing research work. Along with this, users will have more control on customisation in Windows 8.1 on the start screen. They will be able to show any slide show on their locked screen instead of just simple static page.

At the end Microsoft said "It’s very exciting to be delivering Windows 8.1 to consumers just before Windows 8 celebrates its one-year anniversary,"
